Recap of my day - part I

| Comments (0)
Wow....what a ride.  I can't even begin to put into the words the kind of excitement and fear that helicopter can bring at you all at once.  My first impressions going up which Chuck Aaron, I was little nervous thinking to myself that I was putting my life and complete trust in his hands, but who wouldn't trust a man with that kind of mustache, thats the thing of legends.  Chuck prepared me by saying we're going to do a roll, and before I could agree to disagree we were already upside down with me grasping and screaming for something to save me.  He followed the roll with a back flip, and trust me this helicopter was doing a complete back flip.  You'll see in the video later, it was insane! I was literally looking down at the earth upside down, IN A HELICOPTER!!! This was unlike any other thrill i've had in my life so far.  People asked me what it was like, and I told them kind of like a roller coaster, and multiply it by a thousand.  Luckily in the first run throughout all the back flips and barrel rolls, the cloud ceiling was too low, so Chuck couldn't do any of his "crazy" tricks....I'll update you later on my second run + more.

So I just landed from the first helicopter ride, into an abandoned airfield.  I take a few steps out of the helicopter and find a huge aircraft hangar, at which I'm standing at the door while it starts opening very slowly only to add to the anticipation.  Once completely opened there's Chuck, standing next to his modified stunt helicopter.  Chuck is the only person in the world that does this kind of stunt helicoptering (if that's a word).  Off to go take a ride! Hope I can keep my lunch down.... I've seen one picture of what this guy does, and it looks ridiculous.  The picture in the hangar is of him flying upside down in the helicopter, correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't helicopters made to stay upright?

Wish me luck.

Dan gives us an update on his adventure

Wow...one hectic day.  After getting the call from Red Bull on Tuesday morning, I had to kind of kick my schedule into gear.  I had to move up one of my finals to this morning (Thursday), barely studied but finished it (even though my professor hadn't completely finished the final).  After one last move out of my dorm room into a friends house, I'm at the airport in Lincoln.  After what seemed like a thorough inspection of my passport they let me slip through security and off to denver and my connection to LAX.  Once landed in Denver, I quickly grabbed something to eat at the almighty McD's and I ran to hit my connection flight.  This flight was an eternity, only because they showed the same episode of Ugly Betty three times in a row.  I can't even begin to understand how someone can watch just one show let alone the same one three times in a row.  I was quite nervous getting off the plane wondering if cameras were going be right at the baggage claim, but they weren't.  My nervousness subsided.  I met my driver(who I can't recall his name) we had a good chit chat on the way to the hotel, which is awesome by the way.  We almost hit a motorcyclist, but luckily my trusty driver swerved in time.  The sun has gone down, and the locals are all wearing jeans and a light jacket.  It feels like summer to me, I had to restrain myself not to pop my shirt off and run around downtown Santa Monica, but I guess I can hold back.  That's about it for now.  I'm about to go walk around the city and see whats happening.

Bonedown,
